The drive
The whole drive runs on the A1 north through the Dalmatian hinterland, past Šibenik and Zadar, then through the Sveti Rok tunnel under the Velebit mountain. The tunnel is the moment the landscape changes completely — you go in on the Mediterranean side and come out in green, cooler, continental Lika. Tolls are included in the price you see.

Worth knowing before you book
Luggage stays in the car
If you are moving on from Plitvice rather than coming back, the driver keeps your bags while you walk the park. There is no luggage storage worth relying on at the entrances.
Consider making it a day trip
Many people going Split → Plitvice are actually heading to Zagreb afterwards. We can do that as one trip with the lakes as a stop in the middle, which costs less than two separate transfers.
Krka is not on the way
Krka waterfalls sit near Šibenik, roughly an hour into this drive. Adding it as a stop makes for a long day, but it is possible — tell us and we will price it properly rather than surprising you.
Questions about this route
How long is the drive from Split to Plitvice?
About three hours and fifteen minutes to three and a half hours, depending on traffic around Zadar in high season. It is motorway almost the whole way.
Is a private transfer cheaper than the bus?
Not per person if you are travelling alone. From three people up it is usually comparable, and you save two hours and a change of bus.
Can we stop at Krka on the way?
Yes. Krka is near Šibenik, roughly an hour from Split, so it fits — but it turns the transfer into a full day. Ask us and we will quote it before you book.
